Fluoxetine was the first of the SSRIs and still a mainstay of treatment for many conditions ranging from anxiety disorders to OCD to PTSD to premature ejaculation. Released Dec 29, 1987 in the US, it was the first of a long line of SSRIs that have come to dominate prescribing practices of many clinicians.
